FLASH AND EDGE MELTING
Injection Moulded Plastic Flash Removal with Flame System
Injection moulded plastic components often exhibit unwanted thin films—known as flash—along seams or edges. This flash forms when molten plastic seeps through gaps in the mould, leaving behind sharp, uneven ridges once cooled.
Traditional methods of removing flash, such as manual trimming or mechanical grinding, are time-consuming and inconsistent. A more efficient and reliable method is flame flash removal. By applying a precisely controlled gas flame, the thin flash is melted away without damaging the underlying component. The result is a clean, smooth edge—ideal for improving both appearance and handling.
Our flame flash removal systems can be fully automated, offering consistent results at high speed and minimal labour cost. As shown in the video below, our D6 burner system integrates seamlessly into robotic and conveyor-based production lines.
Whether you manufacture automotive plastic parts, consumer goods, or industrial housings, our edge-melting systems provide a cost-effective solution for finishing your components to a high standard.
